Financial Aid for EECS Applicants
A limited amount of financial aid is available to EECS applicants.
There are three main sources of financial aid:
- Fellowships: A number of fellowships are available. If you check the box on the on-line application indicating interest in financial aid, then you will automatically be considered for a fellowship. No further request is needed.

In Australia, Farmers Dealing with Drought Can Kill Kangaroos that Compete with Their Livestock
Wild animals moving closer to human populations is a common side effect of drought, Amir AghaKouchak, a civil and environmental engineering professor at the University of California at Irvine, told The Washington Post. “It happens all the time — in Australia with kangaroos, and in some other countries, even cheetahs and jaguars get closer to farms when there’s a lack of water,” he said.

Thankfully, there could an innovative new way for parents and kids to stay on top of the condition. A researcher and professor at the University of California Irvine has created a way to monitor breathing while on-the-go. Medical Engineering Professor Michelle Khine says she created the device dubbed the "breathing bandage" after her own son was born with a collapsed lung.

Electrical engineers, computer scientists and biomedical engineers at the University of California, Irvine have created a new lab-on-a-chip that can help study tumor heterogeneity to reduce resistance to cancer therapies. … "Cancer cell and tumor heterogeneity can lead to increased therapeutic resistance and inconsistent outcomes for different patients," said lead author Kushal Joshi, a former UCI graduate student in biomedical engineering.

A home-testing kit for breast cancer has won this year's international James Dyson Award.
