Admitted Student Information
How many international and domestic students are admitted to the department each admissions cycle?
Approximately 1/3 of domestic applicants and 2/3 of international students are admitted each year.
Will my offer include financial support?
The Department has a small number of financial support allocations each Fall that are granted to selected outstanding entering PhD students only. Financial support recipients are selected at the same time that admission decisions are made and full description of the financial offer will be indicated in the offer letter.
Will my admission offer include guaranteed access to on-campus housing?
Ph.D. students are generally offered student housing for up to 3 years, provided they register for housing and pay the deposit. Newly admitted MS students are not guaranteed housing. There will be a deadline for this, usually the first of May for the following academic year. All newly admitted students are responsible for applying on their own to live on campus; you will receive information directly from the UCI Housing Office concerning the various housing options available on campus. Early applications to live in on-campus housing are strongly encouraged; you do not need to wait to be admitted to apply to live on campus. You can find more information about housing here: https://housing.uci.edu/grad/
If I am an international student, when do I need to submit my paperwork to initiate my visa process?
Please do not submit any visa request paperwork until you have been notified of admission. Visa submission instructions will be included in your offer letter.
