I am pleased to welcome you to the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at UC Irvine!

Our department provides a vibrant intellectual environment for students, along with state-of-the-art laboratories and resources organized around exciting research areas, including Dynamics and Controls, Fluid Dynamics and Propulsion, Thermal Transport Sciences, Mechanics of Materials and Structures, and Systems and Design.

As Chair, my top priority is to ensure that our students receive an exceptional educational experience. We are deeply committed to fostering a diverse, inclusive environment where students from all backgrounds can thrive and develop into the most dynamic, world-class engineers and leaders. Our programs emphasize both academic excellence and hands-on experience, offering a wide variety of exciting opportunities to engage in cutting-edge graduate research, as well as innovative project and design courses for undergraduates that allow them to experience solving real-world challenges.
