Current Students
The Samueli School of Engineering offers many enriching programs for students currently matriculated at UCI. These programs range from studying abroad to conducting research in a foreign country. By actively engaging in culturally immersive activities, students will be able to cultivate a keen sense of sensitivity toward other cultures and customs, exchange ideas, and foster a new perspective in the field of engineering and globalization.
Study Abroad
The UC Education Abroad Program provides many diverse programs for students to study overseas. Facilitated by the Study Abroad Center at UCI, these programs continue to enhance students’ awareness and understanding of the importance of study abroad and to support students and faculty to engage in international activities.
PKU Globex Summer Session
Globex at the College of Engineering, Peking University, is a professional mobility program with a worldwide exchange of students from all disciplines of study. To enhance students’ global and professional experience, Globex offers courses that focus on engineering & science, innovation & entrepreneurship, and society & globalization. Some courses may be equivalent to technical electives.
KAUST Visiting Student Research Program
The Visiting Student Research Program (VSRP), hosted by King Abdullah University of Science and Technology, offers a comprehensive research experience for highly qualified and motivated international students. Students will collaborate with faculty to contribute to new knowledge and help foster solutions that impact society. Stipends may be available to eligible students.
Visiting and Prospective Students
Students from all nations are welcomed here at UCI. The school offers various short- to long-term exchange programs for international students to experience academic life in the United States. Aside from exchange programs, fellowships and research-focused programs are also available for graduate students who are seeking opportunities to enhance their research, leadership and innovation skills.
UCInspire Program
The International Student Program Immersive Research Experience (UCInspire) is a 10-week comprehensive research program designed for outstanding undergraduate students who are interested in obtaining graduate degrees at UCI. Students will be mentored by world-class faculty at UCI to participate in frontier research projects.
3+2 Program
The UC Irvine 3+2 Engineering Program is a two-year academic program that allows students to obtain both a B.S. degree from their home institution and a M.S./Ph.D. degree from UCI while experiencing both the academic and social lives of American students.
Mexico Graduate Research & Education Program
Funded by Mexico institutions, MGREP supports research collaborations and doctoral and master’s degree study for highly qualified candidates from Mexico at UCI. The program features UCI-industry partnerships to provide dedicated research training for Mexico's future leaders of innovation in interdisciplinary STEM work.
California-Catalonia Program
The program’s main goal is to prepare the most talented young engineers and scientists from Catalonia in their pursuit of graduate degrees (M.S. and Ph.D.) and postdoctoral studies in engineering or computer sciences. The program thus promotes the scientific and technological advancement of Catalonia and strengthens the collaborations between UCI and the universities in Catalonia.
