Experiential Learning

From day one on campus, engineering students are presented with multiple opportunities to gain design experience. All of the school’s engineering programs combine science, engineering fundamentals, design principles and application, and many courses incorporate a hands-on learning component in the curriculum.

In the school’s freshman experiential learning course, first-year students design, build and test a multidisciplinary project – an autonomous hovercraft or a remote-controlled quadcopter. All seniors complete a senior design project, conducted with a team, presented to and critiqued by industry reviewers. Student clubs and organizations and design and business plan competitions round out the prospects for students to develop the practical skills needed for graduate study or employment.
