Congratulations to the Class of 2013! The Design, Build, Fly Team ended the year on a high note by taking first place in a national competition. Our commencement celebration featured nearly 100 senior design project displays and demonstrations. Families and friends witnessed their graduates accepting the obligation of the Order of the Engineer and a stainless steel ring.

"These devices have been banned in some municipalities in Europe," Dr. Hamid Djalilian, professor of otolaryngology and biomedical engineering and director of otology and neurotology at the University of California, Irvine told TODAY. "The main issue is that children who are young and can't express themselves could be hearing the sound," Djalilian said, citing children with autism as a group who could be affected.

“I’m always following the news, and have always been concerned about climate change and seeing the sea levels rise locally,” [Mike] Moodian said. “I decided that this was a story that needed to be told.” His thoughts led him to create a 30-minute documentary called “Coastal Crisis: California’s Vanishing Beaches,” which will air at 3:30 p.m. on KDOC-TV this Sunday. … “Coastal Crisis,” written and narrated by Moodian, includes the voices of experts such as Brett Sanders, a UC Irvine professor of civil and environmental engineering ….
