E-Week 2024
Program Educational Objectives:
Program Outcomes for undergraduate students in Biomedical Engineering:
The educational mission of the Chemical Engineering program is to provide students with a unique interdisciplinary academic foundation on which to continue developing intellectual capacity, and the scholarly training needed to address complex problems in chemical and biomolecular engineering with emphasis on advances in (a) biomolecular engineering and biotechnology, (b) soft matter and complex fluids, and (c) energy processes, conversion, and storage.
Extended-Life Glucose Biosensor Array - an array of chips where each chip (roughly 1 inch by 1 inch) will be an extended-life glucose biosensor. In the NSF-sponsored research of Chancellor's Professor Marc Madou, Ph.D., researchers are working on an implantable biosensor for diabetic patients designed to work for six months or longer. Currently, commercial technology allows for only three to seven days of continuous operation of in-vivo glucose sensors.
The Engineering Student Council (ESC) at the University of California, Irvine is proud to host our Annual National Engineers Week 2022. Engineers Week will be held from February 22 to 25, 2022. Events are held throughout the week to encourage student, faculty, alumni, and industry participation.
Two plans are offered for the M.S. degree: a thesis option and a comprehensive examination option. For either option, students are required to develop a complete program of study with advice from their faculty advisor. The graduate advisor must approve the study plan. Part-time study toward the M.S. degree is available. The program of study must be completed within four calendar years from first enrollment.
