Educational Mission
The educational mission of the Materials Science and Engineering program is to provide students with a unique interdisciplinary academic foundation on which to continue developing intellectual capacity, and the scholarly training needed to address complex problems in materials science with emphasis on advances in nanotechnology, electronic materials, biomaterials, novel alloys, and the selection of materials to meet design goals.

External Fellowships
Federally Funded Fellowships
National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship Program- Deadline: Varies in late October
- Applicants must be a US citizen, US national, or permanent resident
- Applicants must be in a research-focused Master's or Ph.D. program in an NSF-supported field
- Applicants must be enrolled in an eligible program at an accredited United States graduate institution
- Applicants must have completed no more than twelve months of full-time graduate study (or the equivalent)
