Former Dean and Chair, Allen R. Stubberud, Retires
Allen R. Stubberud, professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, retires from UC Irvine on June 30, 2003. Stubberud, who joined UCI in 1969, served as engineering dean from 1978 until 1983. Over the course of three decades, he held numerous other academic administrative positions within the school, including associate dean, as well as chair of electrical and computer engineering (now the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science). From 1994 through 1996, he served concurrently as chair and interim dean. During his career, Stubberud was named a fellow of many prestigious societies, including the American Association for the Advancement of Science, American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics and Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. A highly-recognized faculty member, he received the IEEE Centennial Medal, IEEE Millennium Medal and was awarded the U.S. Air Force Exceptional Civilian Service Decoration on two separate occasions. He received his bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Idaho and his master's and doctoral degrees in engineering from UCLA, where he taught from 1962 to 1969. |
