Programs of Study - Engineering - UC Irvine

The Henry Samueli School of Engineering provides a stimulating academic environment for students interested in the application of science and the development of new technologies for the benefit of society.

Graduate study is offered leading to M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in the following fields:

Financial Aid for EECS Grad Students

Financial Aid for EECS Applicants

A limited amount of financial aid is available to EECS applicants.

There are three main sources of financial aid:

  1. Fellowships: A number of fellowships are available. If you check the box on the on-line application indicating interest in financial aid, then you will automatically be considered for a fellowship. No further request is needed.

Electrical Engineering

M.S. Program information:

Electrical Engineering (EE) Concentration

Two plans are offered for the M.S. degree: a thesis option and a comprehensive examination option. For either option, students are required to develop a complete program of study with advice from their faculty advisor. The graduate advisor must approve the study plan. Part-time study toward the M.S. degree is available. The program of study must be completed within four calendar years from first enrollment.

Research

EECS faculty engage in diverse research activities from massive networks involving machine-to-machine and human-to-human, and human-to-machine interactions all the way down to nano-devices and particles. The research efforts led by the EECS faculty are categorized into three major thrusts, namely, (i) Systems, (ii) Circuits and Devices, and (iii) Computer Engineering.

Undergraduate

Welcome

The main focus of our department is the future of our students’ education combined with consistently meeting industry needs by developing cutting-edge technology. Our faculty believes that engineering plays an integral role in the modernization of society; it leads to the development of tools and devices that benefit humankind and improve quality of life. Our ultimate goal is to develop the minds of future leaders, and we are creating state-of-the-art computer science and engineering, computer system design, high-speed analog and digital circuit design, signal and image processing, electromagnetics, photonics, high-efficiency power electronic circuits, and alternative energy power generation.
