New Jobs Website Debuts, Kick-off BBQ Thursday
Samueli School students are invited to the Tech Jobs Kick-off barbecue Thursday, April 11 from noon to 1 p.m. in the plaza between Engineering Tower and the Donald Bren School of Information and Computer Sciences (ICS). Join Samueli School Dean Gregory Washington and ICS Dean Hal Stern for free food and to learn about www.techjobs.uci.edu, a custom jobs website designed specifically to help engineering and ICS students land an internship or job with one of Southern California’s premier businesses.
Corporate executives from Emulex, Delphi Display Systems, Broadcom and Blizzard will be on-hand offering students tips on how to stand out from the crowd when searching for employment.
“The impetus for this website is not only to help our students find work, but also to respond to industry representatives who have told us they want more and better access to our high-tech talent,” explains Leyla Riley, director of academic innovation, partnerships. “We’ve designed the website so that employers have the ability to search the database for a specific skill set, connecting companies to students who match their needs.”
Students are encouraged to visit www.techjobs.uci.edu and create a profile. The job site will post listings for full- and part-time jobs and internships. Corporate partners from both schools are committed to investing in hiring UCI students.
