Sirignano, professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering and of chemical engineering and materials science in The Henry Samueli School of Engineering. | BACKGROUND: | William Sirignano's research has been responsible for much of what we know about the behavior of liquid fuels in rocket, turbojet, diesel and stationary gas turbine engines. This talk will begin with a brief history of combustion science and technology, then focus on modern constraints on engine performance, stability, economy, and emissions and the relationship between energy and the environment.
