Alumnus Honored for Exceptional Scholarship, Research

Hamid MoradkhaniJune 20, 2017 - Hamid Moradkhani ’05 has received the Branford Price Millar Award at Portland State University (PSU) where he is a professor of civil and environmental engineering, director of the Remote Sensing and Water Resources Lab and fellow of the Institute for Sustainable Solutions.

The Millar Award is given annually to a PSU faculty member who demonstrates excellence in the areas of scholarship, instruction, university and public service and whose scholarship and research is judged exceptional.

An ASCE fellow, Moradkhani has over 25 years of professional experience in analysis, design and management of large-scale water resources systems. He has made significant contributions to tackling the grand challenges faced by water resources planners, stakeholders and emergency managers. A distinguished researcher and educator, he is a highly cited author of more than 130 publications and a pioneer in stochastic modeling, data assimilation, cyber innovation and uncertainty quantification methods used extensively in engineering, Earth science and many other disciplines.

 Moradkhani earned his doctorate in civil and environmental engineering in 2005. He was inducted into the Samueli School Hall of Fame in 2017.
