Postdoctoral Scholar – Digman Lab

The UC Irvine Department of Biomedical Engineering in the Samueli School of Engineering is currently accepting applications for postdoctoral scholar positions in Professor Michelle Digman’s laboratory. We are looking for an innovative and skilled researcher to engineer a new imaging platform for bioluminescent detection through a funded project for deep tissue imaging in collaboration with Professor Jennifer Prescher's Lab.

Requirements: Applicants should have a Ph.D. in physics, optics, engineering, biomedical engineering or related fields. Applicant must have proven experience in developing optical imaging instrumentation and familiarity with nonlinear optical microscopy techniques. Proficiency in computational image analysis and software development for imaging, strong analytical and problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary team are also required.

Solid understanding of geometric optics, physical optics, Fourier optics and/or imaging theory, proficiency in optical/electrical test and measurement tools and experience with CAD design software (e.g., Solidworks, Onshape) is preferred. Minimum one year of hands-on experience in building and aligning optical imaging/microscopy systems and willingness to learn new methods, protocols and technologies are also preferred.

Note that the University of California limits the total duration of an individual’s postdoctoral service to five years, including postdoctoral service at other institutions.
