The Order of the Engineer is an organization that promotes ethical standards and practices of engineers across the United States. Those who are initiated into the Order of the Engineer participate in a Ring Ceremony held before Engineering Semi-Formal, where they accept a code of ethics known as the “Obligation of an Engineer,” and receive a stainless steel ring which should be worn on the pinky finger of their writing hand. The ring symbolizes and reminds them of their oath.
