Yu Otsuki joined the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering as an Assistant Professor in July 2026. His research and industry experience center on advancing autonomy and robotics for the construction industry. He earned a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering and an M.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, where his research focused on structural health monitoring of civil infrastructure through sensing, robotics, estimation, and optimization. After completing his Ph.D. in 2023, he gained three years of industry experience as a robotics software engineer at startups in Silicon Valley and Tokyo, contributing to the development of autonomous driving technologies for off-road construction vehicles and earthmoving operations.
