Rupert Elected to the Minerals, Metals and Materials Society Board of Directors
September 2, 2020 – Timothy Rupert, associate professor of materials science and engineering and mechanical and aerospace engineering, has been appointed the programming director/chair for the Minerals, Metals and Materials Society (TMS) and also a member of the board of directors from 2021-2024. Rupert has previously served the society in a number of capacities, most recently as current chair of the Thin Films and Interfaces Committee.
In his new role, Rupert will connect people developing programming content in their areas of expertise with the board of directors, contribute to policies and long-term planning, and help keep the professional activities aligned with the society’s interests, working toward the growth of TMS.
“We have an opportunity to re-evaluate the ways we communicate with one another, find innovative strategies to work together and to positively change society,” said Rupert. “I am excited to dive into this role.”
The TMS is a professional society that connects minerals, metals and materials scientists and engineers who work in industry, academia and government positions around the world. New officers will be installed at the conclusion of the TMS 2021 Annual Meeting & Exhibition in Orlando, Florida in the spring.
