INGENUITY, INNOVATION AND FUN HIGHLIGHT
NATIONAL ENGINEERS WEEK AT UCI

Students and faculty in The Henry Samueli School of Engineering
will be celebrating National Engineers Week -- better known as E-Week.
Now in its 31st year, E-Week features an eclectic mix of activities,
including numerous competitions designed to highlight student talent,
a high school outreach day, technical career fair, faculty/student
softball game, and an awards banquet. This year's theme is "Engineering:
Exceeding the Limits of Today." |

EVENTS SCHEDULE:

|
|
The festivities will kick off with an opening ceremony at 10 a.m.
Monday, Feb. 23, followed by the traditional E-Week breakfast, where
professors prepare a meal for their students. The competitions,
which take place during the week, include:
- Popsicle Stick Bridge Competition builders fabricate
a Popsicle-stick bridge to support an applied load; Feb. 24, 11:30
a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
- Egg Drop Competition participants construct a package
that will protect eggs dropped from the 10-story Engineering Tower;
Feb. 25, 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m.
- Rube Goldberg Competition students create a complex contraption
to perform a simple task; Feb. 25, 2 - 4 p.m.
- Catapult Competition designers must create a device to
toss, propel, kick or fling a beanbag as far as possible; Feb.
26, 12:30 - 2 p.m.

In addition, more than 20 local companies will participate in the EngiTECH
Career Fair Wednesday, Feb.25, as well as sponsor various activities during
