Abstract: The lecture will discuss different aspects related to steel reinforcement for concrete. This includes placing, tolerances, detailing, fabrication, ductility requirements, development lengths, steel rebars congestion mitigation, ASTM specifications and job site issues.

Bio: Jose E. Mendoza is a professional engineer in the states of California, Arizona and Nevada. He has a bachelor's degree in civil engineering and a master's degree in engineering and public administration. He is the current pacific southwest manager of the Concrete Reinforcing Steel Institute covering five states (CA, AZ, NV, UT & HI). He also is a volunteer subject matter expert with the California Board of Professional Engineers. He has 27 years of diverse experience, from being a construction worker, project engineer/estimator, design engineer, professor of civil engineering, sales engineer, and technical marketing and project manager.
