Improving your Success in NSF Proposal Submission

This workshop will focus on how to create successful proposals submitted to the NSF. Emphasis will be on: 1) funding sources that are not strictly discipline specific; 2) how to write successful proposals; 3) realities of the review process; and 4) new NSF emphasis on broadening participation, which include initiatives in the 2016 draft budget. Broadening Impacts: An NSF Perspective

This presentation will focus on the history and current status of the NSF's perspective on broadening participation. The NSF program director for broadening participation in engineering will discuss how NSF views broadening participation in engineering with respect to proposals submitted to programs within the Directorate. Biography: Dr. Bevlee A. Watford, P.E. is the Director of NSF's Broadening Participation in Engineering (BPE) Program, a Directorate-wide initiative dedicated to supporting the development of a diverse and well-prepared workforce of engineering graduates. The Broadening Participation in Engineering Program supports projects to engage and develop diverse teams that can offer unique perspectives and insights to challenges associated with increasing diversity in engineering research and education. In FY 2015, the Broadening Participation in Engineering program is supporting research on issues associated with diversity within the engineering professoriate, with a particular interest in funding proposals focusing on underrepresented racial and ethnic minorities. |
