An Evening About the Southern California Coast

TOWARD A SUSTAINABLE 21st CENTURY SERIES

There will be a dual focus to the “An Evening About the Southern California Coast.” The first focus is on a new UC Irvine research project on developing flood preparation strategies to address the increasing vulnerability to flooding disasters in two of Southern California’s largest estuaries, the Newport Beach and Tijuana River estuaries. The second focus is a Southern California coast’s Rocky reefs and giant kelp forests, some of the most productive marine habitats on Earth.
