Bio: Bob Holmen is a Managing Director and co-founder of Miramar Venture Partners.  Formed in 2001, Miramar invests in early- and mid-stage technology companies, with an emphasis on Southern California opportunities.  Currently Miramar focuses on core technology sectors of Cloud Computing, Storage, Digital Media and Medical IT.

Bob has spent his career building technology companies in the healthcare and information technology markets.  He has served in diverse roles, from software engineer at Hughes Aircraft to senior executive roles at technology and life sciences companies to venture investor.  Currently, Bob serves on the Boards of the following Miramar portfolio companies:  Matrix Sensors and Predixion Software.  Previously, he served on the Boards of Miramar portfolio companies Fastsoft (acquired by Akamai) and SiliconSystems (acquired by Western Digital Corporation).

Bob received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University in 1985, serving as an officer of the national engineering honor society at Stanford.  He received his J.D. from UC Berkeley in 1989.  Bob is an Adjunct Professor at USC’s Marshall School of Business, teaching Investing in New Ventures, and serves on the Board of the San Diego Venture Group.

 



The Entrepreneurship Seminar Series provides a real-world introduction to the theory and practice of entrepreneurship.  Through a series of presentations by prestigious entrepreneurs and industry leaders, participants will explore the various organizational, strategic and financial challenges facing successful and unsuccessful entrepreneurs.  Topics include start-up strategies, business idea evaluation, business plan writing, and introduction to venture capital.
