About the Speaker:
Goran Matijasevic, Ph.D., M.B.A., is director of research development at The Henry Samueli School of Engineering at UC Irvine. In this capacity, he works on the formation of new industry-university and academic collaborations, especially focusing on new interdisciplinary research initiatives. Prior to this, he was the research coordinator at the Integrated Nanosystems Research Facility at UC Irvine. Prior to UC Irvine, he worked as a senior engineer at QPlus, a telecommunications start-up company. From 1994 to 2001, he was at Ormet Technologies, where as director of research he was working on development of polymer and metal materials and structures for electrical interconnect of high density circuits, new metal alloys for use in conductive adhesives, materials for embedded passive components and heat sensors, and high thermal efficiency electronic substrates. ¨He managed small business innovation research (SBIR) and industry consortia projects which secured over $2.9 million and which have led to further activities with an additional $3 million in funding to the company, including a license agreement with a Fortune 100 company. He has four patents, three book chapters, and over 40 conference and journal publications, and has served on the NEMI Industry Roadmap committee. He is currently on the OCTANe (Orange County Technology Action Network) Technology and Biomedical Operations Committees and also vice-chair of Orange County Innovation. He is a member of the Board of the Southern California Biomedical Council and is on the advisory boards of TriTech Small Business Development Center. He may be reached at goran@uci.edu .
