Dr. Lang is interested in parallel computing systems.

Dr. Lang's primary research and teaching interests are in digital design and computer architecture. His current projects focus on high-speed and low-power numerical processors and multiprocessors. Dr. Lang?s work in the Numerical Processors Laboratory is related to developing hardware algorithms for numerical computations and their effective implementation in terms of speed of execution, area, and energy.

With funding from the UC Micro program and the National Science Foundation, the lab is currently focused on these four projects: Algorithms and Implementations for Division, Square Root, and Related Operations; Low-Power Arithmetic Structures; CORDIC-like Algorithms and Implementations for 3D Geometric Transformations; and Low-Latency Floating-point Operations.

Dr. Lang's research will be applied in the development of faster and more energy efficient computer processor architecture, implementation, and operation.
