Researchers create E. coli-based water monitoring technology
"This new water monitoring method developed by UCI researchers is highly sensitive, fast and versatile," said co-author Regina Ragan, UCI professor of materials science and engineering. "It can be broadly deployed to monitor toxins at their sources in drinking and irrigation water and in agricultural and industrial runoff. What is the minimum GPA to apply?
The required minimum undergraduate GPA to apply is a 3.0 on a 4.0 U.S. Scale. To apply to the Ph.D. program, the suggested minimum graduate GPA is 3.5 out of a 4.0.
If my GPA falls under the minimum requirement(s) am I still able to apply?Yes. You can still apply however, please keep in mind that you will be up against a large pool of other applicants that do meet and exceed the minimum requirements.

Researchers uncover possibility of acoustic side-channel attack on DNA synthesis process
"A few years ago, we published a study on a similar method for stealing blueprints of objects being fabricated in 3-D printers, but this attack on DNA synthesizers is potentially much more serious," said Mohammad Al Faruque, UCI associate professor of electrical engineering & computer science. "In the wrong hands, DNA synthesis capability could result in bioterrorists synthesizing, at will, harmful pathogens such as anthrax."
