Kheradvar Named a Fellow of the American Society of Echocardiography

Arash Kheradvar is designated a fellow of the American Society of Echocardiography.

Dec. 13, 2023 - Dr. Arash Kheradvar, a professor of biomedical engineering, has been designated a fellow of the American Society of Echocardiography (FASE) in recognition of his contributions and commitment to advancing the field of cardiac imaging. Fellows are renowned experts in echocardiography who showcase their dedication to research, education, leadership and public service. Selection is the result of a rigorous peer review process.

Kheradvar’s research focuses on designing and developing cardiac imaging and cardiovascular devices including a novel technique called a volumetric echocardiographic particle image velocimetry, known as V-Echo-PIV. This innovative platform is dedicated to the precise quantification and characterization of 4-dimensional blood flow and vortex imaging within the heart chambers. His work extends to the characterization of vortex flow in the heart using echocardiography. Kheradvar has played a pivotal role in introducing the concept of the vortex formation time index, a key metric used in echocardiographic assessments of cardiac diastolic function.

In addition to this FASE designation, Kheradvar is also a fellow of the American Heart Association and the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering.

Kheradvar will be officially acknowledged at the 2024 ASE Scientific Sessions in June in Portland, Oregon.
