Julie Schoenung Recognized for Research

Julie SchoenungJune 2, 2017 - Julie Schoenung, professor of materials science and engineering, has received the 2017 MSEA Innovation in Research Award from publisher Elsevier and its journal Materials Science and Engineering: A. This new award recognizes innovation in research in the field of structural materials, with special consideration for those who have made pioneering contributions to advance the field of materials science and engineering.

Schoenung studies nanostructured and ultrafine-grained materials, green materials and green engineering design. Her research group synthesizes, characterizes and models new materials for ballistic, transportation and energy applications, and investigates the impacts of materials transactions on human health and environmental quality.

“I am extremely honored and humbled to be recognized by this new MSEA award,” said Schoenung. “I wish to thank the journal and its staff for this opportunity, and I also wish to thank my colleagues, research scholars and graduate and undergraduate students who contributed so much to our collaborative research activities. This recognition would not be possible without their continued effort and support.”
