Professor Ayman Mosallam Book Published by ASCE

Design Guide for FRP Composite Connections published as a Manual of Practice

Professor Ayman S. Mosallam, Ph.D., P.E., Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, with a joint appointment in the Department of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science, had his book Design Guide for FRP Composite Connections published as a Manual of Practice by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).

The 10-chapter manual is the official ASCE Design Manual for fiber-reinforced polymer(FRP) composite joints and is the first official publication on advanced composites published by ASCE. The manual covers major issues related to the analysis and design of composite joints and frame connections manufactured from FRP composites in general and pultruded fiber-reinforced polymer(PFRP) composites in particular.

The manual addresses issues that are lacking in other national and international standards, design manuals and technical publications; and will be valuable to structural engineers designing with FRP or PFRP composites.



The publication of the manual will help identify The Henry Samueli School of Engineering and UC Irvine as a leader in this specialized field.
