Samueli School Professor Named Highly-Cited Materials Science Researcher

The Institute of Scientific Information (ISI) has named Farghalli A. Mohamed, professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science, one of the most highly cited materials science researchers.

Materials science is an interdisciplinary field, encompassing the work of physicists, chemists and engineers. Mohamed joins an elite group of 214 materials science researchers worldwide deemed the most highly cited by ISI. A UCI faculty member since 1980, Mohamed directs the materials science graduate program.

Last year, the ISI also recognized his "accomplishments as one of the most highly cited, influential researchers in the field." The world's most cited authors comprise less than one-half of one percent of all published researchers, according to ISI.
