Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science


Attention: The deadline to submit an online application for both EECS and Networked Systems for Fall '17 has now passed. The deadline to complete and pay for an online application was December 15th, 2016 and the deadline to submit all required documents, LOR's, and scores to be received to our office, was January 15th, 2017.

If you applied for Fall '17 decisions will start being made February-April, 2017. You will be notified of a decision on your application via email.

We only admit students in Fall. If you wish to apply for the next admission cycle, application submission for Fall '18 will open September 1st, 2017. Please continue to check our Admissions FAQ page for updates & deadlines.

The department offers M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical and computer engineering with a concentration in electrical engineering (EE) or computer engineering (CpE).

Electrical engineering research areas include:

  • optics and electronic devices and circuits
  • communications
  • signal processing
  • machine vision
  • power electronics 
  • systems engineering

Computer engineering thrusts encompass:

  • computer architecture
  • software
  • embedded systems

The department also offers graduate degrees in networked systems, a program administered by an interdisciplinary group of faculty from the Department of Electrical Engineering & Computer Science and the Donald Bren School of Information & Computer Science.
