Postdoctoral Scholar in Wearable Robotic Architectures

$53,460 to $64,008 (commensurate with qualifications and years of experience)

The UC Irvine Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science invites applications for a postdoctoral scholar working at the intersection of neuromechanics and robotics in the lab of Terry Sanger. The mission of the Sanger Lab is to use engineering principles to understand childhood movement and to discover new treatments and enabling devices that will improve motor function in children with developmental disorders of movement.

The postdoctoral scholar will work on research projects developing wearable robotic architectures for movement assistance, with a particular focus on human-robot controller synthesis using electrophysiology and coordinated electrical stimulation to augment movement abilities. The postdoctoral scholar will work in tandem with researchers developing soft wearable robotic hardware. Candidates with a background in electrophysiology, robotics, machine learning, human-robot interaction, motor control and signal processing will be considered.

Applicants are expected to have a doctorate at the time of hire, in electrical engineering, computer science or a related field from an accredited university. The candidate should have significant research experience in a related area and a strong history of scholarly publications. Fluency in English speaking/writing is required. Qualified candidates should send their curriculum vitae along with the names and address of three references to the following online recruitment URL to submit the materials requested. Screening will begin immediately upon receipt of a completed application. for application instructions under “Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.”
