Postdoctoral Scholar Position – Lavernia Group

A postdoctoral scholar position is available in synthesis, analysis, modeling and microstructural/mechanical characterization of advanced structural materials in  Enrique Lavernia’s laboratory in UC Irvine's Department of Materials Science and Engineering. The postdoctoral scholar will be focused on the synthesis and analyses of a number of novel materials, including but not limited to high entropy alloys. Applicants should be recent Ph.D. graduates with background in materials science and engineering, or related fields (degree date of 2018 or later). The candidates must be self-motivated and have extensive hands-on experience in materials synthesis/processing and characterization techniques including thermomechanical processing, severe plastic deformation, spark plasma sintering, XRD, SEM, TEM, mechanical testing and related data analysis and modeling, if applicable. The position will also entail mentoring graduate and undergraduate students; writing progress reports; and preparation, submission and publication of peer-reviewed journal papers.
