The UCI Department of Material Science and Engineering in the Samueli School of Engineering has an opening for postdoctoral scholars in the Advanced Casting Research Center (ACRC).

The position will involve one specific project on Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM), which is a process that lends itself to the manufacture of large components by additive manufacturing. For the WAAM project, the work will consist of modeling the process and carrying out experiments to develop operating windows for various alloy families. The other aspect of this position is assisting and supporting the team working on the ACRC projects.

This position requires a Ph.D. in materials science and engineering or related fields and experience in solidification processing, both in modeling and experimental techniques.

This is an ongoing recruitment and this position is dependent upon availability of extramural funding. Initial appointments are short term (1-2 years), and renewal is based on job performance and availability of support. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and years of experience.
