The Aeronautics, Dynamics and Control Laboratory (ADCL) at UC Irvine is currently accepting applications for a part-time specialist position. The research will focus on geometric nonlinear controllability. We are seeking an individual with a strong background in mathematical control theory, optimal control and differential geometry. A doctorate in mathematics, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering or a related field is required. Experience with one or more of the above topics is required.

Candidates should be Ph.D.-level technicians with expertise in organic semiconductors and device fabrication who can oversee installation, construction and assembly of new equipment. There are multiple openings, and the tentative start date is negotiable. 

Assistant Specialist Position – Nilsson Group

The Department of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science at the University of California, Irvine invites applicants for an Assistant Specialist position to work on radioactive isotope production using the UC Irvine TRIGA reactor. The applicant must have experience in handling and working with open sources of radioactive material, preparation of samples and synthesis of irradiation targets. Experience with calculations of irradiation yield and dosimetry is required, as is knowledge of use and function of radiation detectors. A reactor license for the UCI reactor is beneficial.

Specialist – Femtosecond Holography Research

The Lasers, Flames and Aerosols Group (LFA) associated with Professor Derek Dunn-Rankin at the University of California, Irvine, is seeking a half-time Research Specialist for femtosecond holography experiments, theory and modeling. The successful candidate will work with colleagues at local instrumentation companies and at UCI to study the fundamentals and applications of holography using femtosecond laser sources.

Research Specialist – Electric Field Combustion Modeling Research

The Lasers, Flames and Aerosols Group (LFA) associated with Professor Derek Dunn-Rankin at UC Irvine is seeking a research specialist for advanced modeling of electric field effects on laminar diffusion flames. The successful candidate will work with colleagues at National Laboratories and at UCI to simulate experiments of hydrocarbon flames under the influence of electric fields.

Assistant Specialist in characterization of ferroelectric and multiferroic materials by advanced microscopy - Pan Lab

The Department of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science at UC Irvine invites applications for an assistant specialist position in the Pan Lab. Our laboratory interests center on atomic-scale structure-property relationships of advanced functional materials, including oxide electronics, nanostructured ferroelectrics and multiferroics, and catalysts. The ideal candidate for this position should have a doctorate in materials engineering, in areas such as ferroelectric and multiferroic materials targeted for device applications with novel functionalities.
