Abstract:  Four-time entrepreneur and Heal co-founder Nick Desai will explore the myriad innovations happening in healthcare today, which are hype and which are reality, and how these innovations will shape the future of healthcare over the next three, five and 10 years. Desai will also discuss the roadblocks that suffocate the pace of innovation and the simple inventions that can have outsize impact on healthcare delivery worldwide. Finally, Desai will discuss Heal – its founding story, four-year journey to success and his broader experiences as a serial entrepreneur.

Bio: Nick Desai is an accomplished entrepreneur who has started and led four successful start-ups over the last 18 years. Currently, Desai is the CEO of Heal – a company he founded to re-boot the U.S. healthcare system leveraging the transformative power of technology-enabled doctor house calls. In just over three years, Heal has raised over $65 million in investment capital, delivered over 60,000 house calls and driven over $41 million in healthcare cost savings. 

Desai’s previous start-ups have been award-winning and innovative leaders in technology-enabled fitness and weight loss, social media and mobile applications, and the web’s first self-updating address book.

Desai earned his bachelor's degree in electrical and computer engineering from UC Irvine, where he was recently awarded the 2018 Lauds and Laurels Distinguished Alumni Award, and a master's degree in electrical engineering from UCLA. Desai is a recognized speaker and author having spoken at venues including the Consumer Electronics Show, CTeL Spring Executive Telehealth Summit, The U.S. Chamber of Commerce, DigiMed 17 and the Harvard Business School and having written for the Huffington Post and numerous other publications. 

Desai has received numerous industry accolades, most recently being presented with a flag that flew over the U.S. Capitol when he was honored as a National Child Health & Safety Award winner and declared a national child advocate. He has also been awarded a Top 40 Healthcare Transformer of 2018. 

Desai is a proud father of two young boys and lives with his wife (and Heal co-founder), Dr. Renee Dua, in the Pacific Palisades.
