Bio: Jim Mazzo is the Executive Chairman and CEO for AcuFocus. AcuFocus, a privately held ophthalmic medical device company, develops and markets breakthrough technologies for the improvement of near vision. Using the proven small aperture – or pinhole – effect, the company has developed two products: the Company’s flagship product which recently received FDA approval, the KAMRA™ corneal inlay and the innovative IC-8™ intraocular lens (IOL).

Mr. Mazzo is also the Executive Chairman for Neurotech Pharmaceuticals is a biotechnology company developing sight-saving therapies for retinal diseases. Previously, Mr. Mazzo assumed the position of Senior Vice President, Abbott Laboratories and President, Abbott Medical Optics following the company's February 2009 acquisition by Abbott. Prior to AMO running the ophthalmic division for Abbott, he was Chairman and CEO of Advanced Medical Optics, Inc., a position he assumed following the company's 2002 spin-off from Allergan. Mr. Mazzo sits on many educational, medical, technology and non-profit foundation boards.


The Entrepreneurship Seminar Series provides a real-world introduction to the theory and practice of entrepreneurship. Through a series of presentations by prestigious entrepreneurs and industry leaders, participants will explore the various organizational, strategic and financial challenges facing successful and unsuccessful entrepreneurs. Topics include start-up strategies, business idea evaluation, business plan writing, and introduction to venture capital.
