UWRC's "Women in Water" - How Reliable is California’s Water Supply?

Metropolitan Water District’s Debra Man Addresses Southern California Water Crisis at Annual UCI Urban Water Research Center’s ‘Women in Water’ Event

UC Irvine's Urban Water Research Center's Women in Water Event will feature speaker Debra Man, Metropolitan Water District’s Assistant General Manager and Chief Operating Officer.  Ms. Man, with the Metropolitan Water District since 1986, is responsible for managing the operational business functions of the district. Those include system operations, planning, engineering and resources management. One of her primary duties is to implement the General Manager’s Business Plan and initiatives to meet Metropolitan’s mission of providing adequate or reliable supplies of high quality water to meet present and future needs in an environmentally and economically responsible way for the Southern California region.

“We here in Southern California, but really the entire Western U.S., must be keenly aware of the fragile nature of our water supply,” says Man.  “The decisions we make now, and in the near future will determine how well managed our water supply will be for future generations.”

Debra Man’s, “Water Supply Reliability for the Future,” is the 4th annual presentation of the Dorothy Green Memorial Lecture Series. The event is co-sponsored by UCI’s Urban Water Research Center and CV Strategies. This lecture is free and open to the public, but there is limited seating available, so reservations are encouraged. A light reception will follow Debra Man’s presentation.

“Water reliability and sustainability are key components of our work at the Urban Water Research Center,” says William Cooper, Director of the Urban Water Research Center, and Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at UCI.  “Educating the general public, water professionals and public policy makers to allow for more effective planning is our ultimate goal.”

To reserve a seat or inquire about the presentation, contact CV Strategies Operations Manager Tara Bravo at 760.776.1776 or at tara@cvstrat.com.
