The Entrepreneurship Seminar Series provides a real-world introduction to the theory and practice of entrepreneurship.  Through a series of presentations by prestigious entrepreneurs and industry leaders, participants will explore the various organizational, strategic and financial challenges facing successful and unsuccessful entrepreneurs.  Topics include start-up strategies, business idea evaluation, business plan writing, and introduction to venture capital.

 

Daryl Pelc Biography



Daryl Pelc is the Vice President of Engineering & Technology for Phantom Works, a business segment of Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS).  In this position, Daryl is responsible for leading the engineering execution of advanced technology development programs and for the strategic alignment and execution of technology investments across BDS.  Daryl has held this position since August 2007.

Starting with an internship in 1982, Daryl has 27 years of extensive engineering and management experience with Boeing.  Prior to his current position, Daryl was the Chief Engineer for Boeing Global Mobility Systems.  From 2004-2006, he was the Chief Engineer of the C3 (Command, Control, Communication) Networks Division and from 2001-2004, Daryl was the Chief Engineer of the Boeing C-130 Avionics Modernization Program.  In the 1990’s, Daryl served as the Director of the Boeing C-17 Globemaster III Avionics/Flight Controls/Support Equipment Integrated Product Team.  Prior to that, Daryl held positions of increasing responsibility in engineering on the F-15 and F/A-18 Programs. 

In addition to serving as the BDS Executive Sponsor for the Boeing Technical Fellowship, Daryl is an active advocate of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) programs.  Daryl is the Boeing Executive Focal for the University of California-Irvine (UCI), he is on the Dean’s Advisory Board of The Paul Merage School of Business at UCI, a member of the Leadership Council of the Beall Center for Art and Technology at UCI, on the California State University-Long Beach School of Engineering Dean’s Advisory Council, on the Board of Directors of Operation Jump Start; and a member of the AIAA (American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics). 

A native of Belleville, Illinois, Daryl has a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign and a Masters in Business Administration degree from Pepperdine University.  Daryl is married to Patricia and has two children, Jack and Edward.
