Junior Specialist Position with Professor Farzin Zareian
The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at UC Irvine invites applications for a part-time junior specialist position beginning Jan. 10, 2019.
The candidate will participate in a research project related to the development of a catalogue of simulated and recorded ground motions using various earthquake forecast models and ground motions simulation models. The candidate will utilize these ground motion catalogues to generate building and bridge response databases. They will develop predictive equations for the ground motion parameters and compare structural response hazard curves obtained from simulated and recorded catalogues. The candidate should have a master of science degree in engineering with interdisciplinary academic background; a bachelor of science in civil engineering, and master's in structures and soil mechanics is highly favored. The candidate must have experience in applications of probabilistic seismic hazard analysis and ground motion simulation techniques.
Initial appointment will be for a six-month period at 26 hours per week at an hourly rate of $18.92. The prospective scholar will work with Associate Professor Farzin Zareian.
Applicants should submit curriculum vitae, description of research, and contact information for three references. Apply by submitting your application to our online RECRUIT system at: https://recruit.ap.uci.edu/apply/JPF05039
