Assistant Specialist in characterization of ferroelectric and multiferroic materials by advanced microscopy - Pan Lab

The Department of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science at UC Irvine invites applications for an assistant specialist position in the Pan Lab. Our laboratory interests center on atomic-scale structure-property relationships of advanced functional materials, including oxide electronics, nanostructured ferroelectrics and multiferroics, and catalysts. The ideal candidate for this position should have a doctorate in materials engineering, in areas such as ferroelectric and multiferroic materials targeted for device applications with novel functionalities. Experience with in-situ transmission electron microscopy or scanning microscopy research is essential.

Duties/responsibilities may include:

  1. The development and application of in-situ TEM/scanning-probe techniques, especially the studies of ferroelectric materials,
  2. Author, co-author on reports, conference papers and publications.

Salary and benefits for this position are competitive and commensurate with qualifications of the candidate. This position is available immediately. Initial appointment is one-year with continued appointment contingent upon performance and availability of funding.
